Will I get a hard card or eCard?Within 24–48 hours after completing your training, you will receive an email with instructions to access your official eCard from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or HSI/ASHI, depending on your course. If you prefer a physical certification card, please let us know. Physical cards are available upon request for an additional fee.

I work in as a Home Health Aide, Community First Choice, Austism Waiver, or DDA what course should I take?Depending on state or local regulations it is recommended to take CPR/AED Ages with Adult First Aid if you are working with individuals who have reached puberty, and CPRED Ages with Pediatric First Aid if you are working with those who have not reached puberty. Washington, DC may require the course to certified by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. HSI/ASHI CPR/AED and First Aid courses are accepted in Virginia and Maryland. Please verify specific requirements with your state or local organization.

I work in a Healthcare Facility (Dental, HomeHealth, Hospital, Clinic) what course should I take? (copy)Depending on organization, if work in a hospital or home health setting as an RN, BSN, MD, DDS, DMD, DO, etc., it is recommended to the American Heart Association Basic Life Support course. Some organizations may also accept the HSI/ASHI Basic Life Support or American Red Cross Basic Life Support course. verify with your organization for specific requirements.

How long does the training last?For the HeartCode or Blended Classes, the online training length varies from 30 minutes to 3 hours which is followed by an In-Person Skills Evaluation which can last 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on the curriculum used. The duration of the classes depends on the course taken. Most classes range from two (2) to four (4) hours depending on the curriculum and the type of class chosen. For HeartCode or Blended, the online training duration varies from 30 to 3 hours, followed by an In-Person Skills Evaluation lasting 30 to 2 hours, based on the curriculum selected (AHA, HSI/ASHI, ARC). At Safety First CPR & First Aid Training, prioritize training to standard rather than training for time. We are happy to extend the class or provide additional assistance to anyone who needs it.

I am a Home Daycare Provider, what training do you recommend I need to take?Please verify with your local and state organization, normally we will use HSI/ASHI CPR/AED Adult First Aid or with Pediatric First Aid depending on the age group which you take care of. You may also take American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid or American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR/AED and First Aid.

I am a Maryland or DC Department of Education teacher what course do I need to meet certification requirements?Every person seeking initial licensure or renewal of a license shall provide evidence of completion of certification or training in emergency first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and the use of automated external defibrillators. The certification or training program shall (i) be based on the current national evidence-based emergency cardiovascular care guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator, such as a program developed by the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (ARC), and (ii) include hands-on practice of the skills necessary to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Our American Heart Association and American Red Cross Courses in BLS or CPR/AED/First Aid meet these guidelines. If you are not required to have a certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, we will use Health & Safety Institute's American Safety & Health Institute certification.

How do I know the availability and schedule a training?We will do our best to update our available training classes online but for the most up-to-date schedule, please email us or call us directly. You can also use feature, go to "CONTACT US" and submit your request and we will contact you within less than 24 hours. For faster response, you can also send us a text with your name, email address, and which course you are interested in taking.

How do I pay?A non-refundable deposit of $15 is required to secure your training for any instructor led course to secure your reservation for the date and time requested. If you are taking an AHA HeartCode Course, a deposit of $40 will be required. If you are taking a Blended course from HSI/ASHI, a $25 deposit will be required. We will not send you the voucher for the online training until the deposit is received. The remainder of the balance will be due on the day of the course. An invoice will be issued through our of Sale Provider (Square) for the deposit and/or course fee. A non-refundable deposit of $15 is to reserve your spot for instructor-led course on the requested date and time. For an AHA HeartCode Course, a deposit of $40 is required, while a $25 deposit is necessary for a Blended course from HSI/ASHI or ARC. The voucher for online training will not be until the deposit is received. The remaining balance be due on the day of the course. We accept various payment methods, including Cash, Check, Credit Card, PayPal, or Zelle.

Do you do Offsite Classes?Yes, we can travel to your home or business at no additional cost. We will only charge a travel fee if training is required to start at 0700 and it will take us over 2 hours to reach your location. A minimum of three (3) students is required for us to conduct training at your location.

How big are the in-person site at your training location(s)?At both our locations in Suitland, MD, and Annandale VA, we maintain very small class sizes Classes range from a minimum of one (1) to a maximum of six (6) students. We believe that smaller classes not only allow us to provide a personalized approach to our teaching but also enable us to focus more effectively on our students, ensuring they thoroughly understand this life-saving skill.

How many students can we schedule for the in-person training for off-site training?For our off training, a minimum of three students is required. For large group sessions, we adhere to a student-to-instructor ratio of6:1, 9:1, or 12:1, depending on the selected organization's training curriculum.
